Celebrate the Holidays in Toronto

November 16, 2017

With the holiday season approaching fast, it's time to get into the holiday spirit. There's so much to do in Toronto during the holidays so in this blog we go over our favourite things to do in the city during the holidays.

Get Transported into a Christmas Wonderland at the Distillery District Holiday MarketThe Distillery District’s annual holiday street market embraces just about every festive theme on the list. The European-inspired extravaganza is a festive persons delight with local vendors and crafts, food stalls, as well as a Ferris wheel, beer garden and, of course, Santa and his reindeer. Holiday cheer greets you wherever you go, but your cheer budget will go a bit further on weekdays, when admission in free. Tickets for weekend dates cost $6.

Take in the Beauty of the Arts at The NutcrackerWith a cast of characters including the Snow Queen and Sugar Plum Fairy, it’s no wonder the National Ballet’s annual staging of The Nutcracker is as glittery as it gets. The whole package is a true feast for the senses. The classic story takes place on Christmas Eve in Imperial Russia. The two main characters are brought into the magical world of the Nutcracker, complete with Sugar Plum Fairies, rat kings, and more.

See the Lights and the History of Christmas at Casa LomaBuilt over a three-year period from 1911 to 1914, Casa Loma pays homage to the Gothic castles of days gone by, complete with soaring towers and secret passageways. Decked out in lights and seasonal decor, North America’s only castle is a sight to behold during the festive season.

Hit the Ice with Friends or Loved Ones at Natrel Rink at Harbourfront CentreThe completion of the Queen’s Quay revamping project makes this scenic lakefront skating venue even more appealing. Skates and helmets are available to rent, there’s a heated indoor change room with lockers and washrooms, the rink-side restaurant Boxcar Social, and last but not least, admission is always free.
