Opening Doors with Casey House

June 30, 2017

Creating intelligently designed, socially inclusive environments start by translating the needs of the community. Alterra works from the outside in to define their neighbourhoods, whether that be building homes or uplifting spirits throughout our community.

Through philanthropic associations, Alterra hopes to create living spaces that enhance the lives of the people that live in their communities. Alterra proudly supports esteemed Charitable Foundations such as Habitat for Humanity, Princess Margaret Hospital The Ride to Conquer Cancer, Baycrest Foundation, Mount Sinai Hospital, Bridgepoint Active Healthcare, most recently Casey House, and many many more.

Casey House is Canada’s only stand-alone hospital for HIV/AIDS and is one of the few places where people can seek care without judgment. Since its opening in 1988, Casey House has operated on the mandate of breaking down barriers and stigma around people living with HIV/AIDS. They believe that clients deserve to be cared for and treated with dignity and that their humanity should be more visible than their disease. Twenty-Nine years later this hospital is more determined than ever to ensure those who live with HIV/AIDS are not forgotten or overlooked. In 2017 a new home was built with a 58,000 square foot facility designed to deliver an enhanced model of holistic care in a non-judgmental, stigma-free setting.

To meet the needs of their clients, this hospital does not keep their focus internal, but collaborates and affiliates with organizations and agencies to provide the very best in HIV/AIDS care. At Alterra giving back to the community is a high priority, that is why the company is proud to partner with Casey House. Alterra provides financial support and assistance to this charity by opening doors for those in need. To learn more about Casey House and how you can contribute, please visit their website.
